Old-world privacy is offered year round at this Queen Anne Victorian with original woodwork, oak floors and walls covered with pressed paper. Relax in the shade of oak and cedar trees on the patio. Gather for evening refreshments.

Guest bedrooms and the Blair Suite feature feather beds with down comforters and ironed lace sheets, bathrobes, sitting areas, generous personal amenities, including lip balm for either those cold winter days or the warm summer days, artwork and collectibles.

Enjoy early-morning beverages with the newspaper before savoring an elegant breakfast. Stroll the grounds, where you will see elaborate stonework including walls, a fountain, walks and pathways, as well as numerous native plants and flowers. Take a short walk to the local sites of downtown Placerville on historic Main Street in the heart of Gold Country. See also Attractions.

Historic Interest: The Blair family owned and operated the local lumber company. Our home was built in 1901 by James Blair for his new wife and is constructed out of Sugar Pine in the Queen Anne style.

Rooms & Daily Rates: Three rooms are offered at the Blair Sugar Pine Bed & Breakfast Inn, each with full private bath, queen featherbed, artwork and collectibles, unique decorating themes, cozy robes, and sitting area. A full breakfast, early evening refreshments, early morning coffee, and non-alcoholic beverage are included in room rate.

The Blair Suite ~ This room became the master bedroom for James and Erla Blair. It has been called the 'most romantic' room, with its Queen size brass feather bed in the circular turret, draped in tulle and covered with a lace spread. It is furnished with a full private bathroom with an old fashioned clawfoot soaking/bathtub (no shower), an antique dresser, a trundle bed sitting area and warm country accents, making it perfect for your wedding night, anniversary, honeymoon, or other romantic get-away. From the turret, you can view Erla Blair's Honeymoon Tree, a now stately redwood that she planted more than 100 years ago. The Blair Suite comes complete with fluffy bathrobes and a gourmet breakfast. $150

The Lotus Room ~ This room is appointed in a Far East motif with its collection of Oriental treasures, including an antique wallhanging. A Queen size feather bed with down comforter in winter is provided for your comfort and relaxation. The bathroom, with original wood walls, includes a wall-mounted commode. You'll have a close-up view of Erla Blair's 100-year-old Honeymoon Tree. The Lotus Room comes complete with fluffy bathrobes, and a gourmet breakfast. $115

The Garden Room ~ This room features compelling views of the gardens and patio from its bay window. It is furnished for your comfort with a Queen size feather bed with romantic canopy, an antique dresser and armoire and a bright, inviting garden motif. The seating area at the bay window invites you to linger with a good book from our library or just enjoy the view. The Garden Room comes complete with cozy bathrobes and a gourmet breakfast. $135

Directions: Take Highway 50 east to Placerville from Sacramento (or west from Lake Tahoe). If going east, turn right (if going west, turn left) on Bedford Street to Main Street. Go left on Main to Clay Street. Turn left on Clay, proceed under Highway 50 to Grandview Drive. Turn right on Grandview to Simon Street. Turn right on Simon. Parking is at the end of Simon.
